2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.

An account is required. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, for keeping your credentials confidential, and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@goodfornothing.lol if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. The Service

Tile & Error is a single-player word-game trainer. Features may include timed Unscramble runs, server-side scoring, history, stats, profile preferences, and related tools. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

v1 does not include payments, subscriptions, advertising, or multiplayer. Any future paid or social features would be described separately if and when offered.

4. License to use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial play and practice. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer (except to the extent applicable law forbids this restriction), or create derivative works from the Service except as we expressly allow.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• abuse, overload, or interfere with the Service, its APIs, or WebSocket gameplay sessions;
• attempt to circumvent scoring, timing, anti-cheat measures, or other integrity controls beyond ordinary play;
• scrape, bulk-download, or redistribute our word lists or derived lexicon data for redistribution or competing products;
• probe or attack security, or access another user’s account or data;
• use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or harassing purposes;
• misrepresent affiliation with us or with any third-party trademark owner (see §7).

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or for abuse of the Service.

6. Your content and gameplay data

You retain rights in content you submit (for example display names and word-report text), and you grant us a license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate the Service. Gameplay records (runs, submissions, results) are processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property and trademarks

The Service — including software, design, branding, and documentation — is owned by Good For Nothing Productions LLC or its licensors. “Tile & Error,” “good for nothing,” and related marks are used to identify our studio and product.

Gameplay validation uses public-domain word lists (including YAWL and ENABLE2K). Courtesy credit for YAWL belongs with its author. The Service does not use SCRABBLE®, CSW, NWL, or any commercially licensed word list. Tile & Error is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the owners of SCRABBLE® or related marks. Do not use our Service or materials in a way that suggests otherwise.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scoring, lexicons, or stats will meet your expectations.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOOD FOR NOTHING PRODUCTIONS LLC AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH IS ZERO WHILE THE SERVICE IS FREE), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we discontinue the Service, or if we reasonably believe continued access poses risk to the Service or others. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive termination.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide notice we consider reasonable. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where applicable, the laws of the state in which Good For Nothing Productions LLC is organized, without regard to conflict of law rules. Courts of competent jurisdiction in the United States will have exclusive venue for disputes arising from these Terms, except where prohibited by law.
